How to Efficiently Take Care of Your Modern Furniture
Like other types of furniture, your modern furniture pieces should be taken care of. Some of the maintenance methods for this type of furniture is the same as with others, but because many modern pieces are delicate, you should practice extra measures in order to effectively take care of your furniture pieces. And to help you do that, here are some important and useful tips to remember.
Keep them away from sunlight
If you’ve placed several modern furniture pieces in an area that gets heavy amounts of sunlight in the morning and especially in the afternoon, be sure that you keep your furniture away from direct contact. If you placed a modern sofa, for instance, near the window, always undrawn the curtains during the afternoons or use heavy ones to provide maximum protection and avoid damage.
Temperature extremes
As with sunlight, modern furniture pieces are also sensitive to extreme temperatures. In a living room filled with such furnishings, make sure you put cold refreshments away from the pieces or avoid prolong contact. If you can’t help but rest cold or hot things on top of the surface of your furniture, consider covering it with thick slipcovers for sofa or table clock for a coffee table.
Don’t forget to rotate the furniture
There is always a part of any room that is heavily used whether by the residents or the guests. In order to avoid abuse on your modern furnishings, rotate them every now and then. For instance, you can place the sofa near the window to the opposite side of the room and place the less-used couches in its place. This ensures that the sofa will be able to get sort of a reprieve from months of heavy usage.
Clean regularly
Schedule your cleaning duties once a week, as much as possible. Accumulated dirt and stains on your modern furnishings can deeply damage their quality and aesthetics characteristic. In addition, invest on some cleaning agents that are specially designed for use with modern pieces. Other cleansers often produce harmful effects on the surface or overall integrity of the pieces; you must avoid them at all costs.
Consider buying protection and warranty
When you purchase your modern furniture don’t forget to consider buying warranty for each piece or the most important ones you bought. You cannot tell when extreme damage will befall your pieces; and being prepared for emergency furniture repairs can be quite helpful, especially if you’ve found yourself quite short on cash. These pieces are durable but you cannot expect them to last long if they are under constant abuse. And aside from the warranty, you can also opt to purchase protective gears or coverings that can lessen or completely preserve your furniture pieces.
